Well it seems that I am going to be on a committee that will help decide on the Milwaukee County’s new benefits for consumers: Community recovery services was discussed in the final report on transforming Milwaukee mental health services in 2010. The same report also included implementing the Assertive Community Treatment model that will be implemented this fall. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has been complaining that changes are not moving fast enough. The Milwaukee County Board is often accused of interfering with the County Executive’s initiatives. As a result, the county board was reduced in scope and budget.
Has the County Board been interfering with the implementation of CRS or the downsizing of the Mental Health Complex? I hope to be closer to the action by corking on the committee. I’ve been hearing about this benefit so long, it’s time to get it done this spring. Figure out who, when, where and what and start the ball rolling.
