I discovered that the memo about funding for education including peer support specialists like me. When i saw that I had an option to UWM, I jumped. I am excited about this process. I doubt that my fellow peer specialists knew about this. It’s possible that a co-worker applied for the funding because I saw a copy of the application where I knew I had not left one. I hope that I get approved and get hired by my current agency to be a case manager and continue to retain the peer support identity that got me into the job.
When I was into co-counseling, I saw a slogan: no limits for African-American people. In my own way I have applied that slogan to my life.
