A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon they were talking real money. When Republicans talk about waste, fraud and abuse in government, they generally mean that too many poor people are being assisted through programs like food stamps. However, they don’t look at how wasteful the wars we are dragged into are from the standpoint of lost lives and money wasted. But wouldn’t you know, snarky leftists like me keep track of these things.
We count the bodies of the so-called enemy, the innocent civilians, and the money spent on misguided adventures in places like Iraq because it’s our money. And this report from Commondreams.org shows what a mess the Bush administration created in its occupation of Iraq: where we never should have been in the first place.
